Life is better at the Cottage - Alix & Matt

Damn did I ever respect Alix’s taste in design choices! Although I was hired for Partial Planning, a package that is customized to a couples’ specific needs, design was not the focus. Alix and Matt really just needed guidance with some remaining vendor categories, along with lead up support ensuring everything came together effortlessly and nothing massive was overlooked. Two things that I personally believe are worth the investment of a wedding planner, not just to ease the planning process in general, but ultimately eliminating those day of jitters and concerns that take you away from being truly present (highly recommended when hosting at your own property).

We would joke that the couple’s family cottage was the ultimate wedding destination. It literally felt like a resort and access to possibly everything you could need at your fingertips. The most adorable chapel just across the lake (you guessed it, boat accessible and an epic entrance for our groom)… the “unintended” but perfectly designed two-story boathouse, that would offer a bridal getting ready area, later used for vendor seating, and than a cozy little nook for our dessert table. An upper patio that could host a covered tent without creating obstructions to the jaw dropping Muskoka lake views. Casual seating on the lower level for an after dinner dance party (don’t worry we lined the docks edge with candles and floral barriers to avoid any missteps). The catering team might have had to navigate more stairs than they had seen consecutively in one season, however an important takeaway when hiring the right people and at a location like this… Bring them onsite in advance so they know what they are up against and avoid unwanted obstacles the day of.

Let’s just say - from the amazing weather, live music, an unreal 5 course dinner that included crab legs the size of my head, a stocked bar that likely won’t ever need to be replenished, the people, the love, our beautiful newlyweds - This was literally a 10/10 experience and a dream cottage wedding.
